We also get people who make games like "PONG" and other arcade classics WITHIN our game. We've had players use our terrain to make really amazing sculptures and art. The NASA part comes in because we have really deep systems that can get super complex once you realize that everything plays well together. The colors and shapes are really obvious as soon as you look at things. We want the game to feel really tactile, like a toy, so you get a lot of joy out of just snapping things together to see how they work. That sounds crazy, but it actually fits what we are trying to do really well. ![]() We sometimes describe "Astroneer" as a mixture of NASA and Playskool. Tirado: This is a fun one for us, because we have this really silly way of explaining the visual style. : Can you describe "Astroneer's" art style and form language? So the game has had many new chances with new audiences over time. In the last two years we have added creatures, trains, automation, huge narrative expansions, flying vehicles, custom games, so much content, and on top of that, all for free. We had a vision for what our 1.0 release was going to look like, and since that launch in 2019 have just been adding more and more gameplay. When you do something like Early Access, you have lots of ideas of what might make the game good, but players are trusting you to finish the game and are also sharing what they want to see as well. 'Astroneer' is set during the Intergalactic Age of Discovery, where Astroneers explore the frontiers of outer space, risking their lives in harsh environments to unearth rare discoveries and unlock the mysteries of the universe. "Explore and reshape distant worlds in 'Astroneer' - a game of aerospace industry and interplanetary exploration. Bouncevine may be found on the mountain slopes, while Popcoral, Daggeroot and Hissbine are found underground, with Popcoral being more common.Astroneer debuted in 2016 and is still going strong. Hazardous flora also can be found around Sylva. ![]() As such, plenty of organic can be harvested. Underground, some areas have small mushrooms in the upper layers and larger fungi trees in the mantle layer. The plains, hills, and forests give home to numerous plants, including trees, ferns, and grasses. Sylva has a generous amount of flora available across the planet. In the lower layers of Sylva's crust and mantle, rich veins of quartz, laterite, sphalerite, and malachite offer sufficient resources to prepare for other adventures. Graphite layers surround some of the ravines and in the mountains, malachite veins can be found. On the plains, occasional deposits of clay can be encountered, whereas some forests harbor ammonium. Sylva has a transparent atmosphere with a slight blueish hue, thick white clouds form an intermittent layer above the ground.Ībundant deposits of compound and resin are scattered around Sylva's surface. Long, deep ravines may also be found across the planet's surface, making travel in some areas dangerous.īelow the surface, an expansive cave system stretches to the outer core, with a large mantle-layer cavern filled with giant mushrooms. There are also rocky mountains with little vegetation. Much of the planet's surface is covered by plains and forests, providing a natural habitat for a lush population of flora, giving the planet an overall green appearance. Sylva is the Astroneer analog of Earth, featuring several distinct biomes. ![]()
